Storyline
The story is based on Jane Austen’s novel about five sisters – Jane (Rosamund Pike), Elizabeth (Keira Knightley), Mary (Talulah Riley), Kitty (Carey Mulligan), and Lydia Bennet (Jena Malone) – in Georgian England. Their lives are turned upside down when wealthy young Mr. Bingley (Simon Woods) and his best friend, Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen), arrive in their neighborhood.
Summary
The novel is set in rural England in the early 19th century. Mr. and Mrs. Bennet have five daughters. Mrs. Bennet is anxious to see all her daughters married, especially as the modest family estate is to be inherited by William Collins when Mr. Bennet dies.
At a ball. Charles Bingley takes an immediate interest in the eldest daughter Jane, who is beautiful and shy. The first meeting of his friend William Darcy and Elizabeth is less cordial.
